One Of The Last Bridgeless Barrier Island

Little Gasparilla Island, is a barrier Island just north of Gasparilla Island, accessible only by boat. It's a step back in time to Old Florida Island living. With Placida Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, the beautiful views are endless. Homeowners here leave their cars at the marina and jump on their boat to go home. There are no paved roads, just sandy pathways that meander through the sea grapes and Australian pines.  Golf carts or walking are the usual mode of transportation. At its widest part, the island is only about 1/4 mile wide, so it is a very easy walk from the dock to your home and/or the beach. While the boat ride from the mainland is only 10 minutes, Little Gasparilla is a world apart. From the moment you arrive, you'll feel your stresses slip away with the tide as you truly unplug and reconnect with your family or friends.

There are no commercial businesses on the Island with the exception of the golf cart repair shop, which is a big convenience for the Island residents. The only motorized vehicle on Little Gasparilla Island is operated by the fire department. There is a Water Taxi that will take visitors that do not have a boat to and from the Island.  You are minutes from half a dozen marinas where you can store your boat when you leave the Island.

Fishing on the Island is second to none, you can fish the Gulf of Mexico for Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish and other saltwater natives or go to the bayside and catch Snook, Redfish, Cobia among other species that also call this their home.

Smoked mullet is very popular on the Island, quite often you will see local residents out smoking their fresh catch of mullet.  If you haven’t tried it then you need to, its wonderful.
